Find a tennis partner in Chicago

Looking for a hitting partner, or someone for a regular singles match? Leisure Friends helps adults in Chicago find people who want to play the same thing at a similar level, at times you are both free. It is strictly platonic: no dating, and no selling coaching.

Members in Chicago who publish a tennis activity profile are open to meeting an activity partner in a public place. This page does not list them; joining or signing in does.

Where people play

  • Park District courts across the city. The Chicago Park District lists 131 tennis court locations, from neighbourhood parks to the lakefront, with a map of every one in its tennis court directory.
  • Downtown: Maggie Daley Park. Ten combination tennis and pickleball courts at 337 E. Randolph St. Court reservations are available; the park’s site has the details, or call (312) 742-7651.
  • Indoors: McFetridge Sports Center. The Park District’s only indoor tennis facility, with six courts at 3843 N. California Ave. Court time is reserved in advance.

Check the Park District’s page for the court you choose: rules, fees and hours vary by location and season.

How to find a singles partner here

  1. Say what you play and how well. Create and publish an activity profile for Tennis and choose your level, from beginner to competitive, so people can see whether you would enjoy hitting together. Add a profile photo too: Explore only shows people who have one.
  2. Add the times you are usually free. Other members see only the hours the two of you have in common, unless you choose to show your whole week.
  3. Post an Activity, or ask to join one. With a profile photo you can post one: set People in total to 2 for singles, choose a public place such as a park’s courts, and say what you have in mind, from a rally to a full match. Or ask to join an Activity somebody else has posted.
  4. Agree the time and place in the app before you meet.

Meeting safely

Meet at public courts, at a time you have both agreed. Tell a friend where you are going. Every member accepts the Platonic Pledge before they can contact anyone, and you can block or report anybody at any time.
